Here’s a few examples of what our time together may look like…..
a. Johanna, 38 yrs., had always slept well, ate consciously, drank moderately, and exercised regularly – including a yoga practice she learned in college. However, she no longer ever feels rested, probably drinks too much coffee, doesn’t make enough time for herself, is moody, achey and sometimes experiences bad headaches. She has written all this off to her busy life with her husband and two sons, ages 7 & 5, and her job as a realtor, all of which she absolutely loves. Since both her kids are now in school full time she wants to start doing yoga again. Her time is limited and wants to work privately. During our intake session, I learn that her ‘achey-ness’ is actually acute, long-term neck pain (that she’s gotten used to) due to the hairline spinal fracture she suffered from a fall off a horse when she was 15. Her occasional headaches are actually two-day long debilitating migraines. She is also under significant stress being responsible for managing the care of her mother – 1500 miles away in Florida – recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. We agree to meet twice per week at Johanna’s home for the first six weeks.
• 90 minute intake session/$125 –plus- 12 individual sessions/$90 = $1205 total cost
After six weeks we re-evaluate and Johanna decides to continue twice per week but switch locations to my home for our next six week block because she feels too distracted in her own home.
• 12 individual sessions/$75 = $900 total cost
b. Charles, 62 yrs., has a left-lower back issue. In the past ten years, he says, he’s tried it all – pharmaceutical pain management, physical therapy, cranial-sacral therapy, inversion table, yoga(!) and more. Although all these modalities have brought comfort, none have had the long-term effect of remedying the underlying issue of structural asymmetry. During our intake session, I learn he was a semi-pro golfer (develops asymmetry) in his 20s and 30s. Currently, he spends long hours (10+/day) at his computer with one of his monitors positioned to his left side (more asymmetry). We agree to meet at Charles’s home 3x/week for four weeks, then 2x/week for three weeks, then 1x/week for two weeks for a total of 20 sessions – two of our sessions are spent entirely reconfiguring his office space. Charles’s fee breaks down as follows:
• 90 minute intake session/$125 -plus- 20 individual sessions/$90 = $1925 total cost
Very pleased with his progress, Charles and I continue our sessions (re-evaluating every six weeks) at 2x per week, this time in my home.
• 12 individual sessions/$75 = $900 total cost
c. Bethann, 39 yrs., has been teaching yoga for five years and studying yoga for 12 years. She has a disciplined and established practice but with three children, a free-lance graphic design business and her teaching schedule she rarely has time to devote to learning. We get together for a couple of hours in her home studio every few months. We explore everything from teaching (ethics, styles, body mechanics, props, adjustments, insurances, certifications, etc.) to Bethann’s personal practice and deepening her theory and skills.
• $150 per hour
***every effort is made to accomodate individual situations***
