What if I am not flexible, out of shape, or have never done yoga?

  • Willingness to learn is what’s most important.

Will I stand on my head?

  • Not until you’ve learned to stand on your feet.

Do I need any special clothing or props?

  • No. No. No. Seriously, no.

Will I learn pranayama (breath work) and meditation?

  • In time. Just like a sailboat, before we can harness the wind (breath) and be in the moment (meditation), we will make sure our boat is seaworthy (physical practice). 

Sounds great. How much?

  • Everyone begins with a 75-minute/$195 intake session to discuss your expectations, assess your situation, and explore some history. Subsequent fees are based upon the individualized program, and range between $95-150/hr. based on a six-week block of sessions.

What’s with the six weeks?

  • Glad you asked! Clients are encouraged to commit to sessions in six-week blocks, ideally meeting 2 – 4 times per week. The programs are structured in this fashion because…well, humans are peculiar.

Research has shown it takes six weeks for a consistent pattern to become a habit. Many of us have the issues we do because we’ve developed habits that don’t serve us and sometimes even cause harm. Developing new patterns takes time and consistency. Each six-week block is representative of an ascending spiral in a forward-moving process. Research has also shown people are far more likely to skip a session, jeopardizing their progress, when they’ve committed to only 1x/week rather than two or more times per week. Peculiar.

Here’s a snapshot….

In the first couple of weeks, you may be convinced nirvana itself has chosen you. You haven’t felt this good, this clear, this motivated in years!

BUT…..the next few weeks may have you wondering if you’ve entered Dante’s ninth circle of hell….

“I have to LEARN how to breathe? Then what have I been doing all these years?”

“My body tells my story?”

“WHY……am I SWEATING…..SO MUCH…….if I’m….HARDLY…..MOVING?”

“Is she making this up?”

You’ll think about quitting. But you won’t quit.

Why? Because our bodies respond willingly when used in the way they are designed to be used. Because, intuitively and undeniably, every cell of your being will know that you’ve embarked on something organically wonderful.

The last few weeks will be just like life……chop wood, carry water.

Your practice – the creation and maintenance of your garden – will settle into its rightful place as the care and keeping of you……wonderful YOU.

With each consecutive six-weeks the cycle repeats itself.
